There seems to be a cloud of deception and confusion surrounding bio sculpture gel treatments; deceptions in the practices of certain nail salons, and confusion among their clientele.

After visiting a few nail salons, I wasted over $300 on “Bio Gel” treatments, which I thought were the same as “Bio Sculpture Gel” treatments (there is a big difference between the two).  The nail technicians used a number of different terms to describe their bio gel treatments; “Seaweed Gel” and “Bio Gel” were the most common ones.

Regardless of the term used, each nail technician said that their bio gel treatments weren’t supposed to chip or crack, and were supposed to be a healthy, natural alternative to the other nail treatments they offered.  Within a few days, my nails were chipping, by the cuticles, and at least one nail had cracks spreading across the nail plate.

When I visited a new salon, in search of better service and some clarity, I was given the same speech about bio gel – that is was 100% natural and contained minerals from seaweed, and was much healthier than other nail gels.  Because each nail technician used a different bio gel product, I hoped I would see the results I was told I could expect, and I was always disappointed.

My disappointment ended, when I visited Urban Nails salon.  Not only was the service exceptional, the owner of the salon, Kevin Nguyen, was more than happy to help put an end to my confusion.

Here are a few things to keep in mind, before you waste your money on another bio gel treatment:

Ask specifically for “Bio Sculpture Gel”

There is a big difference between Bio Sculpture Gel and other bio gel products.  Confusion can arise, when bio gel products are presented as being similar to or the same as Bio Sculpture Gel, but they are NOT the same products.

There is only one Bio Sculpture Gel available on the market; it is made by Bio Sculpture Canada, and it’s the only nail gel to receive a 5-star rating.

About Bio Sculpture Gel

Bio Sculpture Gel is a nail hardening treatment that strengthens and promotes the growth of your natural nails.  It can be applied directly to your natural nail; it works to protect your nails, while allowing weak, brittle nails to grow.

Nail treatments with Bio Sculpture Gel preserves the health of your natural nails, and will produce natural-looking, glossy nails, which are strong and flexible.

Beware of Imitation Products

There are plenty of bio gel products available, on the market.  These products may be presented to you as “Bio Gel”, “Bio Sculpture“, “Bio Seaweed Gel”, or “Seaweed Gel”.

Dianne Guay, an Ontario sales consultant for Bio Sculpture Gel, says that one of the most recent knock-offs is packaged in similar black jars, with “Bio Gel” written in gold, on the label.

Here are 5 things you should look for, to ensure you are actually receiving an authentic Bio Sculpture Gel product:

  • All the product jars, should be black, with the “Bio Sculpture Gel” diamond logo, clearly displayed in gold.
  • On the back of the jar, it should read “Made in South Africa”.
  • Their gels don’t have any strong, unpleasant fumes or odours.
  • All Bio Sculpture Gel can be soaked off using “Bio Sculpture Gel Remover”
  • All Bio Sculpture Gels are strong, durable, and flexible – your nails should not chip or crack!

Other Considerations

Your nail technician may be offering you the best product, but he/she also needs to use a UVA lamp that has the capability to cure (or dry) the Bio Sculpture Gel, from the top layer to the natural nail.

If a proper UVA lamp is not being used, the nail may appear hard and dry, from the outside, but there may be wet gel touching the natural nail.   Wet, uncured nail gel, can cause:

  • Nail damage
  • Skin allergies
  • Bubbling
  • Lifting
  • Soft or weak nails
  • Dull looking nails

Also, Bio Sculpture Canada offers certification courses, so nail technicians can become professionals at using and applying Bio Sculpture Gel products.  You may want to ask your nail technician, if he/she has gone through the “Bio Sculpture Certification Course”, to ensure you’re receiving the value Bio Sculpture Canada guarantees, from using their products.
